Volleyball announces signing of four to NLIs


Stony Brook head volleyball coach Deb DesLauriers announced today that swing hitters Melissa Rigo (East Northport, N.Y./Elwood-John Glenn HS) and Shelby Tietjen (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West HS) along with middle blocker Stephanie McFadden (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./San Clemente HS) and setter Nicole Vogel (Costa Mesa, Calif./Edison HS) have signed national letters of intent to play for the Seawolves beginning in the fall 2012.

Nelson named to America East All-Academic team


Senior outside hitter Alicia Nelson (Apple Valley, Minn.) has been named to the America East All-Academic team, the conference office announced on Friday.

Volleyball falls to Albany in America East finals


Stony Brook University women's volleyball team saw its season come to an end on Saturday night, falling to the Albany Great Danes 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-17) in the finals of the 2011 America East Championships. Stony Brook ends the season at 15-13.

Volleyball beats UNH to advance to Saturday's final


Senior Alicia Nelson had 16 kills and 21 digs to lead the No. 3 Stony Brook volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over No. 2 New Hampshire on Friday in the semifinal round of the 2011 America East Championship. SBU will take on No. 1 Albany in Saturday's final at 7 p.m.

Volleyball faces New Hampshire in AE semis Friday


The Stony Brook University women's volleyball team begins its quest for its first America East tournament championship on Friday, taking on New Hampshire in the semifinal round of the 2011 America East Championships. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
