Cambridge, Mass. - Stony Brook volleyball freshman Melissa Rigo (East Northport, N.Y.) has been named America East Rookie of the Week for the seventh time this season after a pair of dominating performances last weekend.

Rigo became the first Seawolves player since Jackie Ahlers in 2007 to reach 30 kills in a match. She posted 31 in SB's 3-2 loss to Binghamton on Sunday. That came after a 24-kill performance in Friday's 3-1 loss to UMBC. For the weekend, Rigo averaged 6.1 kills per set. Against UMBC, she also had 13 digs to complete her 12th double-double of the season.

The highlight of Rigo's weekend was being a part of a wild fourth set against Binghamton. The Seawolves saved five match points, three of them on Rigo kills. She was then the server on a pair of Bearcat attack errors that gave SB a 30-28 set victory.

Rigo finished the season with 443 kills and a 4.52 kills per set average, which both lead America East. In conference games only, her kills per set average goes up to a league-best 4.81. She notched 10+ kills in every match and reached 20+ kills nine times this season.
