Stony Brook, N.Y. – The Stony Brook volleyball team has released its 2013 schedule, first-year head coach Coley Pawlikowski announced Tuesday. The new era in SBU volleyball will begin against Sacred Heart in a season-opening tournament hosted by Holy Cross Aug. 30.

The following day, the Seawolves will face Holy Cross and Manhattan at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, to conclude the tournament.

“My staff and I are looking forward to our first season here at Stony Brook and are excited to announce our 2013 competition schedule,” Pawlikowski said.  “We open up with our first four weekends on the road, which will be a good challenge for our group as we continue to grow and reach towards our goals together.”

Stony Brook, who returns America East Rookie of the Year Melissa Rigo, will play Oakland, Rutgers and Syracuse Sept. 6-7 in Syracuse. The Seawolves will square off against local-foe St. John’s in a midweek contest Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. in Queens before hitting the road for a pair of tournaments at Kennesaw State (Sept. 13-14) and Bryant (Sept. 20-21).

SBU kicks off its conference slate Sept. 29 at UMBC and then returns to the Empire State for a matchup at Fordham Oct. 1.

After five weeks on the road, Stony Brook will make its Pritchard-debut against New Hampshire Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m. On Oct. 6, the Seawolves welcome America East’s newest member, Lowell, to Long Island at 1 p.m.

Following a trip upstate for matches with Binghamton (Oct. 11) and Albany (Oct. 13), the squad will host Providence Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. and Hartford Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. SBU is set to take on Seton Hall Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. before kicking off a five match homestand with UMBC Oct. 27 at 1 p.m.

Albany and Binghamton will visit Pritchard Nov. 1 and Nov. 3, respectively, and Sacred Heart will be in Seawolves Country Nov. 5.

SBU concludes its regular season conference slate on the road against Hartford (Nov. 15) and Providence (Nov. 17). The America East Championship is slated for Nov. 22-24 at highest seed, and Stony Brook will wrap up the regular season a couple of days later in a match with Yale Nov. 26 at Pritchard Gymnasium.
