Stony Brook, N.Y. - Senior Nini Lagvilava (Tbilisi, Georgia) and sophomore Polina Movchan(Kiev, Ukraine) had a strong day one of the Stony Brook Women's Tennis Classic on Friday. The duo each won their 'A' singles match and teamed for a win in doubles.

Lagvilava won 8-1 over Rhode Island's Kathleen Uy and Movchan beat LIU's Taysha Blessington, 8-4. The duo moved into the doubles semifinals with an 8-6 win over Army and a 8-4 victory over Marist.

Freshman Becky Shtilkind (Brooklyn, N.Y.) beat Colgate's Kelsey Shea in 'B' singles. Freshman Jackie Altansarnai(Hinsdale, Ill.) also advanced in 'B' with a win over Noelle Kaufmann (Navy).

In the 'B' doubles, Altansarnai teamed with sophomore Cassandra Dix(Northamptonshire, U.K.) for wins at 8-2 and 8-6.

Dix beat Mikaela Carlson (Navy), 8-3, in 'D' singles and freshman Lisa Seyton (Paris, France) topped Colgate's Becky Silvers, 8-1.
