Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's tennis tennis knocked off the NJIT Highlanders, 4-3, on Tuesday at University Courts, snapping NJIT's 14-match winning streak. Stony Brook improves to 7-6 with the victory.

NJIT grabbed the doubles point but the Seawolves then won four matches in straight sets in singles play to earn the victory.

Junior Nini Lagvilava (Tbilisi, Georgia) won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 singles while freshman Polina Movchan (Kiev, Ukraine) defeated Nina Mayevska, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2. Lagvilava and Movchan also won at No. 1 doubles.

Senior Prerana Appineni (Hyderabad, India) easily won at No. 5, 6-1, 6-3 and junior Chloe Pike (Bristol, England) won 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 6 spot.

The Seawolves return to action on Friday, hosting St. Francis (Pa.).
