Towson, Md. - Junior Nini Lagvilava (Tbilisi, Georgia) and freshman Polina Movchan (Kiev, Ukraine) combined to win at No. 1 doubles and then each won at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, to lead the Stony Brook women's tennis team to a 5-2 victory over Towson on Wednesday.

Lagvilava and Movchan won 8-2 at the No. 1 doubles spot before senior Prerana Appineni (Hyderabad, India) and junior Chloe Pike (Bristol England) cruised to an 8-3 win at No. 3 to give the Seawolves a 1-0 lead.

Lagvilava dropped just one game in coasting to a win at No. 1 singles and Movchan won 6-4, 7-5 at the No. 2 spot.

Senior Salome Mkervalidze (Brewster, N.Y.) and Appineni then won in straight sets at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, as Stony Brook opened its three-game road trip with a victory.

Stony Brook improves to 6-4 with the victory.

The Seawolves return to action on Thursday, taking on Georgetown.
