Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook swimming and diving teams defeated St. Francis (N.Y.) in their first home dual-meet of the season on Saturday. The women's team prevailed by a score of 139-72, while the men won 132-78.

The Seawolves took maximum points in the diving events as the reigning America East Female Diver of the Week, Jodie Darnell (Rocklin, Calif.), took first on the one-meter board with a score of 183.00. Freshman Kyle Gannon (North Babylon, N.Y.) and freshman Kaleim Reid (Uniondale, N.Y.) swept the men's competition as the Terriers did not have any competitors on the men's side.

Junior Andjelija Sreckovic (Jagodina, Serbia) took home a pair of victories in the 50 free (25.92) and 100 free (55.26), while freshman Matthew Essig (Arlington, Va.) and freshman Larry Barbosa (Corona, N.Y.) were also victorious in two events. Essig touched first in the 1000 free (10:22.87) and 500 free (5:00.82), while Barbosa topped the competition in the 200 IM (2:02.26) and 100 back (56.93).

Other victorious competitors on the women's side included sophomore Mallory Breen (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) in the 1000 free, sophomore Allison Zelnick (Troy, Ohio) in the 200 free, sophomore Lauren Betancourt (Astoria, N.Y.) in the 200 IM, junior Julie Policht (Toronto, Ontario) in the 100 fly, junior Christie Bodden (Panama City, Panama) in the 100 back and senior Taylor Crosby (Port Monmouth, N.J.) in the 100 breast.


 

 

On the men's side, sophomore Sean Hardick (East Northport, N.Y.) touched first in the 200 free, senior Ed McIntyre (Laurel, N.Y.) took first in the 50 free, senior Sean Conway (Oakdale, N.Y.) earned first in the 100 free and senior Mark Anderson (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) claimed first in the 100 breast.

The Seawolves return to action on Oct. 29 at Massachusetts at 1 p.m.
