The Stony Brook softball team had its 2013 season come to an end on Saturday with a 6-0 loss to Oregon State in the NCAA Columbia Regional. The America East champions finished an outstanding campaign with 35 wins.
The Stony Brook softball team battled toe-to-toe with No. 6 overall seed Missouri, holding the Tigers off the board into the fifth inning, before succumbing to a 3-0 defeat on Friday in the NCAA Columbia Regional. The Stony Brook softball team will make its second appearance in the NCAA Tournament this week when it opens play in the Columbia Regional on Friday against No. 6 Missouri at 6:30 p.m. EST. All games in the Columbia Regional will be shown live on ESPN3.
Sophomore Bria Green (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) of the Stony Brook softball team has been named First-Team All-Mid Atlantic Region, as announced Thursday by the NFCA. Green and the Seawolves will square off against No. 6/8 Missouri on Friday in the Columbia Regional at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN3.
After wrapping up the America East championship on Saturday, the Stony Brook softball team was selected to play in the Columbia Regional with host Missouri (the No. 6 overall seed), Oregon State and Hofstra, as announced Sunday night on the NCAA Tournament selection show.
Led by the America East Tournament's Most Outstanding Player, Allison Cukrov, the Stony Brook softball team completed its improbable run to the 2013 championship by defeating top-seed Albany twice on Saturday in the conference final.
