Softball's season comes to a close in AE Tourney


The Stony Brook softball team had its season come to an end on Saturday after suffering a pair of losses at the hands of Boston University and Albany in the America East Tournament. Stony Brook dropped its first game of the day to BU, 7-3, before falling in a heartbreaker against the Great Danes, 6-5.

Softball falls to BU, will look to advance to championship later


The Stony Brook softball team dropped a 7-3 decision to No. 1 seed Boston University on Saturday morning on the second day of the America East Championship. The Seawolves will now face No. 3 Albany for the second time this weekend at 4 p.m. The winner of that game will advance to the championship to face BU.

Softball slugs by Albany in AE Tourney opener


The Stony Brook softball team hit four home runs, including two off the bat of sophomore Nicole Hagerty, to knock off Albany, 6-4, in Friday's America East Tournament opener in Boston, Mass. The Seawolves will now face top-seeded Boston University on Saturday at 11 a.m.; the game will be broadcast free online courtesy of BU Student Radio, WTBU.

Weather forces softball's AE Tourney opener to Friday


Rainy weather conditions in the Boston area have pushed the Seawolves' America East Tournament opener against third-seeded Albany to Friday at 1:30 p.m. The No. 2 seed in the competition, Stony Brook will be looking for its second conference championship in program history after winning its first title in 2008.

Cukrov, Bryant headline All-America East softball honors


Freshman Allison Cukrov of the Stony Brook softball team headlined five Seawolves to receive America East All-Conference honors, the conference announced Wednesday. Cukrov was named Pitcher of the Year, while head coach Megan Bryant was named Co-Coach of the Year. [READ MORE]

Softball comes up short against Albany on senior day


The Stony Brook softball team out-hit Albany by a 12-7 margin on Sunday but fell to the Great Danes by a score of 7-4 on senior day at University Field. Despite the defeat, the Seawolves clinched the No. 2 seed in the upcoming America East Championship and will face No. 3 Albany on Thursday afternoon in Boston, Mass.
