Preview: After renewing its rivalry with Hofstra yesterday, the Stony Brook softball team will reignite another long-standing matchup with a three-game series at UMass Lowell this weekend.  The Seawolves who defeated the Pride, 3-2, for their first victory in eight previous meetings as a Division I program, will face the River Hawks for the first time since 1996.

Opponent: Briana Martin leads UMass Lowell with a .341 average.  She and Ali Ferraro are the only two players to start all 27 games.  Abby Jamieson and Ariana Darcy each have hit three home runs.  Emily O'Brien is second on the team with a .340 average.  Marielle Handley has started 14 games in the circle. She's 3-9 with a 3.69 ERA in 79 2/3 innings.  Lauren Ramirez is 2-6 with a 5.45 ERA in 43 2/3 innings.

Series: UMass Lowell previously won eight of the nine meetings when the two programs were in Division II.

Up Next: Stony Brook will travel to Connecticut for a doubleheader against Quinnipiac on Wednesday, April 16 at 2:30 p.m.  The Seawolves will finish their home portion of the schedule with a seven-game homestand beginning with Maine on April 19.
