Brooklyn, N.Y. - The Stony Brook softball team will return to non-conference action this week with a pair of games against LIU Brooklyn and Fairfield. The Seawolves will travel to face the Blackbirds on Wednesday at 3 p.m., before hosting the Stags on Thursday at 2 p.m.

Stony Brook

The Seawolves (12-15) will be looking to regain their swagger at the plate after a tough weekend vs. Hartford resulted in just three runs in three games. Sophomore Bria Green (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) still leads the team with a .325 batting average to go along with three homers and 15 RBI.

Stony Brook's pitching continues to be a strength as the team has not allowed more than two runs in each of the last nine games. The Seawolves allowed just three runs in 25 innings last weekend and have lowered their team ERA to 3.65.

Junior Christine Lucido (Melville, N.Y.) paces the squad with a 6-1 record and a 2.55 ERA. Sophomore Allison Cukrov (Irvine, Calif.) has allowed just four earned runs in her last 27.2 innings pitched.

The Seawolves' defense has also been a point of pride as the team ranks 28th in the nation with a .971 fielding percentage.

LIU Brooklyn

Wednesday's opponent, LIU Brooklyn enters with a 4-27 overall record. The mark is a bit deceiving, however, as LIU has played a very difficult schedule thus far, matching wits with the likes of Virginia Tech, Maryland, No. 14 Michigan, No. 23 Florida State, Utah, No. 10 Oregon, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State and Notre Dame.

The Blackbirds are led by Emily Kakusa (.351 average, 11 RBI) and Lauren Morizi (.333, 11 RBI) at the plate. In the circle, Cassie Vondrak leads the team with 90.1 innings pitched, despite a 2-14 record and a 6.04 ERA.

Fairfield

The Stags (10-9) will venture to University Field on Thursday for a single game against the Seawolves. Fairfield recently swept UConn to open its home schedule last weekend and will battle Yale on Wednesday prior to its meeting with SBU.

Lauren Liseth provides a big bat to the Fairfield lineup with a .462 average, six home runs and 25 RBI. In the circle, Rae Ball paces the team with a 1.49 ERA and a 3-5 record in 51.2 innings pitched.
