March 19, 2013
Cambridge, Mass. - Sophomore Allison Cukrov (Irvine, Calif.) was named the America East Pitcher of the Week on Monday after posting a 2-0 record with a 0.60 ERA last weekend. Cukrov allowed only one hit in 11.2 innings of work, holding opposing batters to a miniscule .027 average.
On Friday against Yale, Cukrov tossed a complete-game, one-hitter as the Seawolves (11-13) dispatched the Bulldogs by a 7-1 score. Cukrov struck out seven, while allowing only six total hitters to reach base.
The Irvine, Calif. native then came back with two strong outings on Sunday. In the first game against Yale, Cukrov tossed an inning and a third in relief to pick up her second save of the season in a 4-1 Seawolves victory. Cukrov then entered in relief once again vs. Providence and pitched 3.1 scoreless frames to earn the win in a 3-1 Stony Brook victory.
The Seawolves posted a perfect 4-0 record at the Stony Brook Invitational and have won five straight overall. Cukrov and the Stony Brook pitching staff have held opponents to two runs or less in each of the last six games.
Stony Brook will travel to Bryant for a doubleheader Wednesday starting at 2 p.m.
