Stony Brook softball coach Megan Bryant announced the hiring of Amber Flores as an assistant coach in February 2012. Flores will primarily serve as the team's hitting and outfield coach and will assist with all aspects of the program.

Flores was previously a three-time All-American at the University of Oklahoma, where she became the first player in Big-12 history to be named conference player of the year twice. Flores set numerous program records with the Sooners, including career home runs (56), walks (163), extra-base hits (99), slugging percentage (.701) and on-base percentage (.524). In addition, Flores was a three-time finalist for USA Softball's Collegiate Player of the Year. Flores was selected fifth overall in the 2010 National Pro Fastpitch draft by the USSSA Pride.

A native of Calexico, Calif., Flores earned her bachelor's degree in sociology from the University of Oklahoma in 2010.
