Kansas City, Kan. - Stony Brook women's soccer junior goalkeeper Ashley Castanio has been named third-team All-Northeast Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), the organization announced Wednesday morning.

Castanio enjoyed an outstanding junior season and helped lead the #Seawolves to a share of the America East regular season championship. She started 19 matches, posted a 1.12 goals against average and stopped 83 percent of shots on goal faced. She recorded four shutouts on the season.

Her efforts in the regular season landed her America East Goalkeeper of the Year and first-team All-America East honors. Then in the America East Championship semifinals, she had an incredible match, making 16 saves and then turning away two shootout attempts to help Stony Brook advance past Maine in penalty kicks. She was named to the All-Tournament team for her performance.

In her career, Castanio has won 23 matches and has a career 1.18 goals against average with nine shutouts. She has stopped 81.7 percent of shots on goal.
