Kershaw, Bosnyak take home AE postseason honors
Oct. 26, 2011 Cambridge, Mass. - Junior Sa'sha Kershaw (Baltimore, Md.) and freshman Regan Bosnyak (Newington, Conn.) of the Stony Brook women's soccer team were honored on Wednesday as the America East revealed its postseason awards. Kershaw was named second-team All-Conference, while Bosnyak garnered All-Rookie consideration. Kershaw tied for the team lead with three goals and seven points this season. The Baltimore, Md. native started all 17 games and finished with 26 shots, good for second on the team. Kershaw set up the game-tying goal and scored the game-winner against Iona on Aug. 22, and also recorded the game-tying tally against Fairfield on Sept. 18. Kershaw was previously named to the All-Rookie team as a freshman in 2009. Bosnyak also played in every game and made 16 starts in her first season in a Stony Brook uniform. The Newington, Conn. native scored her first two collegiate goals in a 4-1 win over UMBC on Sept. 29. Stony Brook has now placed at least one player on the All-Rookie team in every season since joining the America East in 2001. Six players on the current roster have been honored as All-Rookie selections: Alexis Lindo and Colleen McKenna in 2008, Kershaw and Taryn Schoenbeck in 2009, Chelsea Morales in 2010 and Bosnyak in 2011.
