Women's soccer clinches playoffs with OT win over UNH
Oct. 18, 2012
Durham, N.H. - Freshman Raven Edwards (West Orange, N.J.) scored with five minutes remaining in double OT to help the Stony Brook women's soccer team clinch an America East playoff berth with a 1-0 win at New Hampshire on Thursday afternoon. Coach's Reaction "We're extremely proud of the way we competed today. We left everything out there on the field and received several standout performances from many players. This was definitely a team effort, going on the road, playing on a grass field and winning in overtime. We really feel that we're starting to peak at the right time." --Head coach Sue Ryan Goal Recaps
The Numbers Game
Playoff Picture With one game remaining in the regular season, five of the six America East postseason spots have been clinched. Boston University has wrapped up the regular season title, but due to its impending move to the Patriot League, is not eligible to compete in the conference playoffs. As a result, Hartford will go into the playoffs as the No. 1 seed, regardless of Sunday's result against Stony Brook. The Seawolves (10 points) can still finish as high as second in the standings and as low as sixth. Next Up |
