#Seawolves open America East play with 2-1 win at Vermont

Burlington, Vt. - The Stony Brook women's soccer team opened its America East schedule with a 2-1 road victory over Vermont on Sunday at Virtue Field. Sophomore Emily Murrer (Aptos, Calif.) broke a 1-1 tie with 14 minutes remaining in regulation to give Stony Brook its first win at Vermont since October 2009.

"This was a terrific way to open the conference season with a hard-earned victory on the road. Vermont came to play today and really pushed hard, but we were able to steady ourselves and ride out the victory. Overall, this was a great team win."
• After a scoreless first half, Stony Brook (6-3-1, 1-0 America East) got on the board first when redshirt junior Queli Ornelas (Palm Harbor, Fla.) poked home a rebound off a shot by freshman Maxie New (Clayton, N.J.) in the 55th minute.
