Final Stats

Boston, Mass. - Stony Brook University's women's lacrosse team lost to Boston University, 15-4, at Nickerson Field on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Jessica Romano (Massapequa, N.Y.) and junior Melissa Cook (Bay Shore, N.Y.) each scored two goals for the Seawolves (3-11, 1-4 America East). Hannah Frey led all players with four goals.

Boston University (8-7, 5-0) took a 5-0 lead 8:50 into the game. Romano finally got Stony Brook on the board, scoring off an assist from sophomore Abby Ford (Baltimore, Md.) at 20:11. After the Terriers re-took a 6-1 advantage, Cook took a pass from Ford and tallied her team-leading 26th goal of the season to make it 6-2. Romano made it 6-3 with a goal at 14:06 of the first half.

Frey scored all four of her goals in the first half, giving B.U. an 11-3 lead after 30 minutes.

Cook scored unassisted at 27:06 of the second half to cap the scoring for Stony Brook. With 82 goals, she has moved past Jill Gridley '06 and Jenna Celano '09 for sixth place in school history. Cook is also in sixth place in SBU's record books with 117 points.

Junior Cori Kennedy (North Babylon, N.Y.) and freshman Melissa Rotante (Norwalk, Conn.) recorded three ground balls apiece. Freshman Justyne Passarelli (Glen Head, N.Y.) and junior Courtney Bertolone (Farmingville, N.Y.) each had two caused turnovers.

Stony Brook concludes the 2010 season at Binghamton on Saturday, April 24. Game time is slated for 1 pm.
