Women's Lacrosse Falls To #17 New Hampshire, 12-8, on Senior Day

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Junior Mickey Cahill (Bay Shore, N.Y.) tied a season-high with 14 saves, but New Hampshire outscored Stony Brook, 9-5, in the second half and held on for a 12-8 victory. Junior Courtney Bertolone (Farmingville, N.Y.) and freshman Nicolle Moran (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) each had two goals. Shaunna Kaplan led the Wildcats with three goals and four assists. Bertolone's 17th goal of the season tied the game at one. Moran and freshman Jessica Romano (Massapequa, N.Y.) also scored in the first half as the Seawolves led 3-1. New Hampshire scored with 10 seconds left, tying the game at three after the first 30 minutes. Bertolone tied the game after Ilana Cohen gave New Hampshire the lead. Kaplan scored two of Wildcats' next four goals as they led 8-4. Stony Brook got as close as three the rest of the way. All five goals scored in the second half by Stony Brook were from five different players. Junior Samantha Djaha (East Islip, N.Y.) assisted on goals from sophomore Abby Ford (Baltimore, Md.) and junior Melissa Cook (Bay Shore, N.Y.). Cahill made nine of her 14 saves in the second half to earn America East Player of the Game honors. Kaplan earned the award for New Hampshire. Freshman Justyne Passarelli (Glen Head, N.Y.) and Romano each finished with three ground balls. Sophomore Jackie Hughes (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) tallied four draw controls. Seniors Bridgid Callahan (Hanover, Md.) and Kelley Sweeney (Bay Shore, N.Y.) were honored prior to Saturday's game.
