Meghan McNamara enters her third year as assistant coach of the Stony Brook women's lacrosse team in 2003-04. McNamara's primary responsibilities with the Seawolves include working with the offense and the midfielders, as well as academic monitoring and coordinating out-of-state recruiting.

McNamara, a four-year starter for the University of Maryland Terrapins, tallied 13 goals and eight assists her senior season, capping off a career that saw her start 63 games at attack. The East Northport, N.Y., native posted her best season as a junior, when she racked up 20 goals and eight assists for 28 points. Over the course of her four-year careeer, McNamara totaled 51 goals and 20 assists.

During McNamara's four years as a Terp, Maryland lost only four games (83-4) and won four national championship titles, part of a current streak of seven consecutive NCAA crowns. Maryland won the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament three of her four seasons, and McNamara received ACC All-Tournament Team honors as a senior.

"Meghan is a great asset to our program," head coach Danie Caro said. "Her playing experience taught her how to be a champion, and she is committed to passing that knowledge on to our players. She has a great deal to offer the team, both on and off the field, and I expect her to play a key role in the maturation of our progam."

Named a high school All-American in 1996 and 1997, McNamara helped lead Northport High School to the New York State finals two consecutive seasons. She also played soccer at Northport, leading the team to the New York State title in 1997.

McNamara also serves as assistant director of Stony Brook's girls lacrosse clinic and camp programs, and is a coaching staff member of the Long Island Yellow Jackets club team.
