Moon Township, Pa. - The Stony Brook women's basketball team will close out the November portion of its schedule with a pair of road games against Robert Morris and Youngstown State this week. The Seawolves face the Colonials on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and the Penguins Friday at 7 p.m.

Last Time Out

Riding a stifling defensive effort, the Seawolves knocked off NJIT, 59-34, on Sunday in Newark, N.J. Stony Brook forced 16 turnovers and held the Highlanders to just 26.2% shooting, while outrebounding the hosts by a 40-20 margin. Senior Jessica Previlon (Brooklyn, N.Y.) notched her second straight double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead Stony Brook to its largest margin of victory since a 31-point win against St. Francis (NY) on Dec. 6, 2009.

Klupenger's three sends women's hoops past Robert Morris Junior Dani Klupenger (Aurora, Ore.) hit the go-ahead three with 14 seconds left as the Stony Brook women's basketball team rallied from a 14-point deficit to knock off the Robert Morris Colonials, 42-40, on Wednesday afternoon at Pritchard Gymnasium. It was the first career win for new Stony Brook head coach Beth O'Boyle.

The Colonials are still looking for their first win of the season after dropping their first five games. Robert Morris has played a challenging schedule thus far with a pair of contests against Big Ten opponents Iowa (58-44 loss) and Michigan State (68-35 loss). Artemis Spanou leads RMU in points, rebounds and assists so far and is averaging a double-double (16.4 ppg, 12.0 rpg) through five games.

Youngstown State

The Penguins are off to a terrific start to the season, posting a 4-0 record with impressive road wins over Pittsburgh, Miami (OH) and Buffalo. The Penguins will play at Northern Kentucky on Tuesday before hosting the Seawolves on Friday evening. Four YSU players are averaging double-figure scoring, led by Brandi Brown's 21.0 ppg and 14.3 rpg.

Familiar Foes

Stony Brook defeated both opponents last season at home, knocking off the Colonials, 42-40, and the Penguins, 54-47. Dani Klupenger scored 13 points and drained a go-ahead three-pointer with 14 seconds left to help the Seawolves defeat RMU, before chipping in 11 points on 3-for-6 three-point shooting against YSU.

The Seawolves have been dominant on the glass this season, outrebounding opponents by an average of 41.2-28.3 (+12.9 margin). In the last two games, Stony Brook has outrebounded its opponents, 90-46.
