Stony Brook, N.Y. –Former Stony Brook women’s basketball player Taylor Burner has signed a one-year contract with Bnot Herzliya, a professional team that plays in the Israeli First Division. She will begin play this fall.

“It’s such an exciting opportunity for Taylor,” head women’s basketball coach Beth O’Boyle said. “We are thrilled that she can continue her playing career professionally.”

Burner, who hails from Port Jefferson, N.Y., played for the U.S. team that won a gold medal in the Maccabiah Games, defeating host-Israel for the title last month. The squad’s road to the gold also included wins against Australia and Canada.

The former center saw time in 100 games during her four-year playing career at Stony Brook, helping to guide the team to the seventh-best turnaround in the country in 2012-13 with a 10-win improvement over the previous season.
