Stellar defense not enough for women's hoops in 52-51 loss to UMBC
Feb. 20, 2013 Stony Brook, N.Y. - Jessica Previlon poured in a career-high 18 points, but the Stony Brook women's basketball team fell to UMBC, 52-51, in front of its largest home crowd of the season Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Pritchard Gymnasium. The game was televised on Optimum Local 118. Previlon and Sabre Proctor notched Seawolf-highs of seven rebounds apiece as Stony Brook (13-14, 5-9 AE) outrebounded UMBC (10-16, 6-9 AE), 35-21. Raven Harris played 40 minutes for the Retreivers and led all scorers with 23 points. Harris and Previlon were selected America East Players of the Game. Coach's Reaction "I was impressed by another good defensive effort. Unfortunately, we weren't able to make enough plays on a few key possessions late in the game." --Head Coach Beth O'Boyle Turning Point Stony Brook led, 43-40, with just over seven minutes to play after a lay-up by Previlon.
