Men's' and women's tennis roll past Quinnipaic on Senior Day
April 14, 2012 Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's and women's tennis team celebrated Senior Day with victories over the Quinnipiac Bobcats on Saturday at University Courts. The men's team won 7-0, while the women's team won 6-1. The Seawolves honored their five seniors - Roope Kailaheimo, Max Sztabholz, Katherine Hanson, Prerana Appineni and Salome Mkervalidze- prior to the match. The women's team has won three straight and the men's team four straight. The women's earned the doubles point as junior Nini Lagvilava (Tbilisi, Georgia) and freshman Polina Movchan(Kiev, Ukraine) won the deciding match at the No. 1 spot, 8-4. Stony Brook then won the top five singles matches all in straight sets. Lagvilava and Movchan each won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 and No. 2, respectivley. The men's team did not lose a set in addition to winning all three doubles matches. Kailaheimo celebrated senior day with a 6-3, 7-5 at No. 3 while Sztabholz did not drop a game at No. 5.
