Men's and women's tennis cruise past St. Francis (Pa.)
April 13, 2012 Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's and women's tennis teams each rolled to 7-0 victories over St. Francis (Pa.) on Friday afternoon at University Courts. The men have won three straight and improve to 6-8 while the women improve to 8-6. The men's team did not lose a set in any of the five singles matches. Sophomore Nikita Fomin (Moscow, Russia) won 6-3, 7-5 at No. 1 while sophomore Francis Bertrand(Repentigny, Quebec) coasted to a 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 2. The women's team easily won the doubles point, winning at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, 8-1. Junior Nini Lagvilava (Tbilisi, Georgia) did not drop a game at No. 1 singles and sophomore Polina Movchan(Kiev, Ukraine) lost just one as she clinched the match. Both the men's and women's teams return to action on Saturday at noon against Quinnipiac. Stony Brook's five seniors will be honored prior to the match. Men's Results 2. Ilic/Sztabholz (SB) def.
