Men's Tennis Rolls Past Hofstra

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook's men's tennis team continued its strong play in the fall season on Saturday when the Seawolves won seven of nine matches to defeat Hofstra, 6-1 in the team's first dual match of the season. The afternoon contest with St. Peter's was not completed due to darkness.
After taking the doubles point, Stony Brook went on to take the match by dominating in singles play, taking five of the six matches. Sophomore Ilan Shvartz (Haifa, Israel) won his match at No. 2 by a 6-3, 6-0 score and freshman Artem Baradach (Minsk, Belarus) took a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 3 singles to lead the way for the Seawolves.
Before darkness claimed the St. Peter's match, Rummel picked up a win at No. 1 singles with an 8-1 decision, while sophomore Alex Markovich (Brooklyn, N.Y.) claimed the other win, an 8-2 victory at the No. 4 singles spot.
