Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's tennis team won five singles matches in straight sets on its way to a 6-1 win over NJIT on Tuesday at University Courts. The Seawolves improve to 5-8 with their second straight victory.

Stony Brook opened the match by earning the doubles point. The teams split the top two doubles spots but freshman Stefan Ilic (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and senior Max Sztabholz (Paris, France) won 8-6 at the No. 3 position to give Stony Brook the 1-0 lead.

The Seawolves then dominated in singles action, winning five of the six matches. Sophomore Nikita Fomin (Moscow, Russia) won two tie breakers at No. 1 and senior Roope Kailaheimo (Helsinki, Finland) won 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 3 position.

The Seawolves return to action on Friday, hosting St. Francis (Pa.).
