Men's tennis falls to No. 60 Brown, 6-1

Providence, R.I. - Sophomore Nikita Fomin (Moscow, Russia) won at No. 1 singles but the Stony Brook men's tennis team fell to the No. 60 Brown Bears, 6-1, on Saturday. The Seawolves dropped a hard fought doubles point to open the match. Freshman Stefan Ilic (Forest Hills, N.Y.) and senior Max Szatbholz (Paris, France) won in a tiebreak at No. 3 singles after Brown had won at No. 2 doubles. But Fomin and freshman Francis Bertrand (Repentigny, Quebec, Canada) fell in a tiebreak at No. 1 doubles as Brown took a 1-0 lead. Fomin, ranked No. 139 in the latest ITA rankings, then won in three sets at No. 1 singles but the Bears won at No. 2-6 positions to take the match.
