New Haven, Conn. - The Stony Brook men's tennis team dropped its final match of the Yale Round Robin on Sunday, falling to the host Bulldogs, 6-1 at the Heyman Tennis Center. The Seawolves also dropped close 4-3 decisions to Marist and Fairleigh Dickinson earlier in the weekend.

Sophomore Nikita Fomin (Moscow, Russia) did not drop a set as he went 3-0 at No. 1 singles for the week including a 6-3, 6-2 win over No. 78 Marc Powers of Yale.

Stony Brook jumped to a 3-0 lead against Marist on Friday as the Seawolves earned the doubles point and then got victories from Fomin and freshman Francis Bertrand (Repentigny, Quebec) at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.

But Marist rallied to win at No. 3-6 singles including three in three sets to earn the victory.

Fomin and Bertrand combined to win 8-6 at No. 1 doubles against FDU but the Knight won at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions to earn the first point of the match. Fomin then dropped just one game on his way to victory at No. 1 singles.

But FDU won three of the last five singles matches to pick up the 4-3 win.
