Men's soccer announces recruiting class of 2012


After winning its third America East Championship in program history and advancing to the NCAA Tournament in 2011, the Stony Brook men's soccer team and head coach Ryan Anatol have announced their standout recruiting class of 2012, consisting of six talented student-athletes, who will help push the Seawolves to the next level of competitive collegiate soccer.

Men's soccer to hold walk-on tryouts Feb. 14


The 2011 America East Champion Stony Brook men's soccer team will be holding a walk-on tryout on Feb. 14 from 8-9 a.m., on the infield turf of University Track, located next to LaValle Stadium. All interested students must complete four forms in their entirety to be eligible to try out.

Men's soccer welcomes two transfers for the 2012 season


The 2011 America East champion Stony Brook men's soccer team has added two talented transfer student-athletes to its roster for the spring semester, head coach Ryan Anatol announced Thursday. Joining the Seawolves in 2012 are Ryan Price, from Florida Gulf Coast, and Shane Wixted from South Florida. Both players have two years of eligibility remaining.

Fernandes, Gobeil Cruz named NSCAA All-Northeast Region


Juniors Leonardo Fernandes and Berian Gobeil Cruz were both named NSCAA All-Northeast Region Friday after spectacular 2011 seasons as the Stony Brook men's soccer team's top goal scorers. Fernandes was named to the first team, and Gobeil Cruz was named to the third team.

Men's soccer edged by Monmouth in penalty kicks


After a tremendous defensive battle that went 110 minutes and saw great saves by both teams, the Stony Brook men's soccer team fell to No. 23 Monmouth in penalty kicks, 5-4, in the first round of the NCAA College Cup Thursday night at The Great Lawn. Men's soccer regionally ranked; Fernandes earns national honors


Stony Brook men's soccer, the 2011 America East champions, have entered the NSCAA Continental Tire Northeast Region for the first time this season, coming in at No. 8. In addition, junior Leonardo Fernandes has been named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week.
