Men's soccer hosts successful spring festival


The Stony Brook men's soccer team had a productive and successful spring training season that concluded with its exciting second annual Spring Soccer Festival, held April 26th at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium and attended by over 1,300 fans.

Fernandes signs pro contract with Philadelphia Union


Former Stony Brook men's soccer star Leonardo Fernandes has signed a contract with the Philadelphia Union and earned a spot on its roster, the club announced Friday prior to its Saturday regular season opener. Fernandes will wear No. 22 for the Union, who open the regular season Saturday.

Fernandes scores goal in Union's first preseason match


Former Stony Brook men's soccer standout Leonardo Fernandes is making an impact for his new professional club, the Philadelphia Union. Fernandes scored the game-tying goal in the Union's 1-1 draw against the Orlando City Soccer Club, the club's first preseason match of the year.

Fernandes selected by Union in MLS Supplemental Draft


Stony Brook men's soccer senior midfielder Leonardo Fernandes has been selected by the Philadelphia Union in the fourth round of the Major League Soccer (MLS) Supplemental Draft. Stony Brook's all-time leader in points scored, Fernandes becomes the second-ever player in the program to be drafted onto an MLS team.

Fernandes named Big Apple Soccer Player of the Year

Fernandes earns more national and regional honors


After becoming Stony Brook men's soccer's first-ever All-American last week, senior midfielder Leonardo Fernandes has picked up two more honors. Over the weekend, he was named to the College Soccer News All-America third team and was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Northeast Region first team.
