Cambridge, Mass. - Freshman Leonardo Fernandes (North Babylon, N.Y.) was named America East Rookie of the Year and three other players earned conference honors, as announced on Wednesday. Redshirt freshman Anthony Rogic (Boonton, N.J.) and freshman Berian Gobeil (Montreal, Quebec) joined Fernandes on the All-Rookie Team while senior Collin Geoghegan (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was selected to the second team. Fernandes and Gobeil also earned second team honors.

"I am very happy for Collin in receiving this recognition from the league in his final year," head coach Cesar Markovic said. "With the number of quality offensive players in the league, it's an honor for Fernandes and Gobeil to be selected to the second team. The selection of Rogic as well as Fernandes and Gobeil truly shows that the future of our program is very bright," Markovic said.

Fernandes is the first men's soccer player from Stony Brook to earn the conference's rookie of the year award. He led all conference freshmen in scoring this year with six goals and 14 points and is just one goal away from tying Shane Arikian's '04 program record for goals by a freshman in Division I.

Rogic has saved his best for conference play. Leading the Seawolves to a five-game unbeaten streak, Rogic has recorded a 0.60 goals against average as well as an .862 save percentage and three shutouts during conference play.

Gobeil has also been a force in his first year at Stony Brook, ranking second on the team with five goals and 12 points. He tallied the Seawolves' goal against #12 Harvard and scored the game-winnning and game-tying goals against Albany and New Hampshire, respectively.

Ranking among the all-time leaders in games played at Stony Brook with 69, Geoghegan picked up his first postseason honor. He has played in all 17 games this season while serving as an important piece to the Seawolves' defense. He's tallied seven career points including an assist on senior Damion Brown's (Kingston, Jamaica) goal against Adelphi in September.

Stony Brook has earned the #2 seed and a bye in the America East Tournament. The Seawolves will face the winner of #3 Hartford and #6 Boston University to be played on November 11 at 7:00 pm.
