Toronto, Ontario - Former Stony Brook men's lacrosse standout Steven Waldeck '10 was drafted by the National Lacrosse League's Minnesota Swarm in the NLL entry draft on Wednesday night.

Waldeck, a long stick midfielder during his illustrious career at Stony Brook, will likely play defense and in transition for the Swarm.

Waldeck finished his outstanding career with 313 ground balls, including 112 in 2010, the third most in school history. Among all long poles, he led the country with 10 goals and four assists. The three time All-America East first-team selection finished his four-year career with 17 goals and 11 assists.

He was an honorable mention All-America as a senior and named to the 2010 Tewaaraton Award watch list.

The Levittown native was drafted by Major League Lacrosse's Toronto Nationals in May. He totaled two goals and 23 ground balls in seven games.
