Men's lacrosse falls to UMBC, 13-12
Despite three goals from senior Jeff Tundo and freshmen Brody Eastwood and Jake Sichenzia, the Stony Brook men's lacrosse team fell to UMBC, 13-12, Saturday at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. Sophomore Mike Rooney added a goal and three assists for the Seawolves (6-6, 1-2 America East).

Faceoff: The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team will begin its 13th season of America East competition Friday night at UMBC.  Since joining the conference in 2002, the Seawolves are 43-19 during conference play.  The 43 wins are tied with Albany for the most among the current schools.

Opponent: Senior Matt Gregoire leads four players with double-digit goals with 26.  Three sophomores -- Jack Gannon, Nate Lewnes and Pat Young -- have combined to score 38 goals.  Senior Phil Poe, the Retrievers' primary face-off specialist, is 94-for-176 (.534) with 55 ground balls.  Freshman Connor Gordon has started all eight games in goal for UMBC.  He has a .561 save percentage and a 10.01 goals against average.


 

 

Series: UMBC leads the all-time series 12-7.  The Retrievers’ 13-12 win last season over Stony Brook snapped a three-game series winning streak.  From 2006-09, UMBC won five straight, including the 2009 America East Championship game.
