Faceoff: The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team will begin its 31st season of competition Friday night against Marist. The Seawolves, who were picked second in the America East preseason poll, are opening the season against the Red Foxes for a second straight year.  Friday night's game will be the first of an NCAA-high 10 home games this season.

Opponent: Marist, which fell to Detroit in the MAAC final, was picked to finish third in the conference's preseason coaches poll.  Sophomore attack Joseph Radin and junior goalkeeper Dave Scarcello were named to the preseason All-MAAC team.  The Red Foxes went 10-4 and 5-1 in conference, earning a share of the regular season title.  Marist will look to replace the production of Connor Rice and Jack Doherty, who each tallied more than 40 points.

Series: Stony Brook leads the all-time series, 12-4, in a matchup that dates back to 1987.  After winning five straight and 11 of 12 games, the Red Foxes have defeated the Seawolves in back-to-back contests.  In each of the four Marist victories, the Red Foxes have scored in double digits.  In the 12 wins, Stony Brook has held Marist under 10 goals.
Up Next: Stony Brook will stay at home to host Lafayette on Tuesday, February 18 at 6 p.m.
