Stony Brook, N.Y. -
In this week's Big South football teleconference, coach Chuck Priore discusses Stony Brook's 45-7 win over VMI and what it's going to take to beat Liberty in a hostile environment at Williams Stadium.
VMI recap ...
- "VMI came up the day of the game so it was a long day for them, but I think those kids played really hard. Considering the cirumstances of Hurricane Sandy, I was impressed with our focus. With it being senior day and our last home game, I thought we had a definite edge. There were a lot of plays that could have gone either way, and that's been the case everytime we play VMI.
Looking ahead to Liberty ...
- "When we joined the league, Liberty was the team we wanted to model ourselves after. The first time we played there we weren't very successful. When we met as a staff after the game, we told ourselves that we needed to do the things Liberty does to be successful. We've continued to upgrade our facilities and our program. We have a tremendous amount of respect for Liberty. They struggled early, but each week they've gotten better. Their offense is clicking on all cylinders after settling in on a starting quarterback. Their run defense has been tremendous. It's going to be a huge challenge to go into that stadium and win. But I think we'll be ready for it and we'll certainly be excited for it. This is why you play games in November."
