Kickoff: The No. 8 Stony Brook football team travels to face Liberty in the 2012 regular-season finale at Williams Stadium on Saturday afternoon.  Patrick Kinas and Rod Smith will have the call on ESPN3 and MASN, while fans can hear Mike Solano and Curt Hylton broadcast all of the action on WUSB 90.1 FM and GoSeawolves.org.

Opponent: Liberty has won 17 straight conference games at home, with its last loss coming against Gardner-Webb in 2006.  Aldreakis Allen and Sirchauncey Holloway lead the Flames' rushing attack with 13 of their 16 touchdowns.  Josh Woodrum has taken over the reins as the team's starting quarterback, passing for 1,646 yards and 10 touchdowns.  Pat Kelly leads Liberty's receiving corps with 68 catches, 700 yards and three scores.

Series: Stony Brook is 2-2 all-time against Liberty, with each team winning twice on its home field.  The Flames have handed the Seawolves two of their four Big South losses.  Each of the last three games have had conference title implications.  In 2009, Stony Brook stunned Liberty, 36-33, to claim a share of the championship.  The Flames dealt the Seawolves a 54-28 loss in 2010, but because of a tiebreaker, Coastal Carolina earned the Big South's automatic bid.  Last season, SBU held off LU, 41-31, to cap an undefeated conference season.

Title Game Implications: A win over Liberty would give Stony Brook its second straight outright Big South title and an automatic bid to the Division I Football Championship.

News & Notes: 

• Kyle Essington is only the second quarterback in Big South history with back-to-back seasons of 20 touchdowns.  He has 42 TDs against only eight interceptions in 27 games.

• In 10 games this season, Miguel Maysonet has 1,652.  He's 177 yards away from breaking into the top 25 all-time for rushing yards in a season.  Colgate's Nate Eachus was the most recent player to crack the list, accounting for 1,871 yards in 2010.

• If the season ended today, Essington's passing efficiency of 194.18 would rank fourth all-time in a season in FCS history.
