2012 Coach's Corner #4 - A Letter From The Desk of Coach Priore
Sept. 21, 2012
Stony Brook, N.Y. - I want to start out this week's letter by thanking all the people, especially the band, who made it up to Syracuse for the game last week. It's that type of support that this team feeds off. When you play in an environment like that, it's good to look at the crowd and see the RED in the stands. Going into the game, I told a lot of people we'd have a pretty good idea of where we stand as a team and as a program. Despite the loss, I was encouraged by a number of things. We played a first half that I would describe as Stony Brook football. We ran the ball effectively, controlled the clock, protected the quarterback and played physical. Those two goal-line stands in the second half were as good as I've ever seen. We wanted to be in a position to win the game after three quarters, and we accomplished that. You never want to lose a game, but we can feel confident that we met a number of our goals. From my eyes, there's a lot of potential for this team and the future of the program. Looking at Colgate, they're a program that has achieved a lot of success over the last 10 years. They made the 1-AA Championship game in 2003 and have been a top FCS school for a number of years. When you look at them on film, they do a lot of the same things we do well - running the football. Each year they have a number of backs who can be dangerous in space. Colgate is a very good team, despite its record. It will be paramount that we continue to play hard, fast and physical. I'm really excited to see some of the alumni at Stony Brook this weekend. Having their support is vital to this program. Getting tickets to tomorrow's game is easy - visit GoSeawolves.org or call (631) 632-WOLF. I'm looking forward to a great Homecoming game.
