CAA FOOTBALL TELECONFERENCE

Stony Brook, N.Y. -

In this week's CAA Football teleconference, head coach Chuck Priore talks about the 24-0 win over Rhode Island and looks forward to taking on Buffalo for the second time in two years.

On the season opener ...

First and foremost, our jobs as coaches is to get wins at the end of the day.  So, if you take that into account, I was very pleased with the outcome.  I think Rhode Island played a very good game, and I knew they would.  When we evaluated the film, they made great improvement from a year ago.  I was a little concerned about our team being overconfident, even though we had no right to be.  I thought we handled that adversity pretty well. We prepared correctly and played hard.  As far as the actual game, they had a good game plan and, at times, we were unable to execute.  We had too many negative plays that stalled a couple of drives.  It was a good game going into the fourth quarter, which is what I thought it would be.  Overall, good team victory.  I was happy that we controlled field position and won the turnover battle.

On playing more games this season in the Northeast ...

We had a great crowd on Saturday.  One thing that certainly was noticeable was the fact that we had more of the kids' parents at the games.  Having the band, and the cheerleaders, and the dance team really was awesome.  Playing some of these teams are going to create some rivalries.
