Scouting the Offense: Senior quarterback Marcus Wasilewski passed for nearly 2,400 yards and 21 touchdowns last season. Maine lost its top receiver to graduation, but returns Long Island native Damarr Aultman, a junior who led the team with six touchdowns, and senior Justin Perillo, a preseason first team All-CAA selection. Senior Derrick Johnson, who had 346 receiving yards, also returns. Senior Rickey Stevens led the Black Bears with 830 rushing yards last season. Maine will need to replace three offensive linemen. Seniors Jeff Gakos and Joseph Hook will lead Maine up front.
Scouting the Defense: Senior Michael Cole, who played in only five games last season, had seven sacks. In three seasons, he has 21 sacks, just 6.5 shy of the school record. Sophomore Michael Kozlakowski also returns to help the defensive line that graduated two starters. Senior Troy Eastman had 64 tackles last year. The strength of the defense lies in the secondary where Maine returns three starters led by junior Khari Al-Mateen.
