Senior Kyle Essington (Chino Hills, Calif) tied a school-record with five touchdown passes as the Stony Brook football team (5-1, 1-0) won its seven straight Big South game with a 49-7 victory over Charleston Southern (1-4, 0-1) at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium Saturday.

Essington was 13 of 19 for 263 yards, completing all of his attempts to senior Kevin Norrell (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Jordan Gush (Richardson, Texas).  Norrell tied a career-best wih eight catches and set career-highs with 214 yards and two touchdowns.  Gush totaled five catches for 49 yards and a career-best three touchdowns.

Senior Miguel Maysonet (Riverhead, N.Y.) became the Stony Brook and Big South's all-time leading rusher, accounting for 88 yards.  Maysonet, who entered the game with 3,561 yards, broke Conte Cuttino's school mark of 3,607 yards and Rashad Jennings' conference total of 3,633 yards.

The Stony Brook defense, which has allowed 20 points in the last 10 quarters, accounted for eight tackles for loss, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

• Stony Brook has outscored its opponents, 83-7, in the first quarter.
• Prior to Charleston Southern's second-quarter touchdown, Stony Brook had not allowed a touchdown in six straight quarters.
• Kevin Norrell totaled career-highs of 175 receiving yards and two touchdowns, both in the first half alone.
• Miguel Maysonet's 28-yard run in the third quarter broke Conte Cuttino's school record of 3,607 yards.  Maysonet entered tonight's contest with 3,561 rushing yards.  Maysonet also became the first player in Big South history to rush for a touchdown in the first six games of a season.

• The Division I school record for receiving yards in a game is 216, set by Londre Blocker against Wagner in 2001.
