Senior Miguel Maysonet (Riverhead, N.Y.) totaled 220 yards and two touchdowns as the Stony Brook football team (4-1) recorded its first win over a Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) opponent with a 23-3 win over Army (0-4) on Saturday at Michie Stadium.
It was the 10th win by a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) school over an FBS opponent and the first over a service academy this season.
Maysonet recorded a new career-high in rushing yards, a week after rushing for 198 yards against Colgate.
"When you put together a plan, you're excited when it comes together. We possessed the ball, we were efficient in the passing game and didn't give up the big play. I told the team that they needed to hang their hat on something other than last year. Today, this team created its own identity."
"We wanted to make sure we didn't allow Army to get into the gaps. We were able to do that today. When Miguel makes his runs and scores, I feel like the offensive line scores."
"I think we showed real early we'd be able to compete with Army. We were able to block what they threw at us. I'm proud to be a part of the first Stony Brook team to beat an FBS school."
