NEW YORK (AP) - Tom Gavenonis kicked a 20-yard field goal on third down on St. John's first possession in overtime as the Red Storm beat Stony Brook 16-13 on Friday night.

On the first series of overtime, St. John's Chieduh Nomah intercepted Scott Bard's pass on the 5.

Marc Saracino threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Matt May with 1:46 remaining in the fourth quarter as the Red Storm (1-1, 1-1 Northeast Conference) rallied to tie the Seawolves (0-1, 0-1).

St. John's opened the scoring midway through the second quarter on Kyle Lauver's 5-yard run, but Bard countered with a 57-yard TD pass to Londre Blocker with 2:56 left in the half.

Stony Brook took the lead early in the fourth quarter when Eric Martinez returned a blocked punt 11 yards for a touchdown.

Saracino finished 11-for-21 for 114 yards, and Bard was 13-of-25 for 176 yards.
