Jon Woods begins his sixth season as an assistant coach at Stony Brook in 2011. After coaching the tight ends for three years, Woods moved to the offensive line in 2009 and helped Paul Fenaroli earn All-Big South first-team honors two years in a row. The O-Line helped block for two 1,000-yard rushers for the second time in four years. In 2009, the offensive line blocked for a rushing attack that finished 30th in the nation and allowed just over a sack per game to rank in the top 25. During his time working with the tight ends, the group became an integral part of the Stony Brook offense, with making numerous key receptions, including the game-winning TD last season against Charleston Southern. In his first season on the staff he coached the outside linebackers in 2005. Woods arrived at Stony Brook after spending one season as an assistant coach at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (Mass.) where he served as the outside linebackers coach. A four-year letterwinner and two-year starter on the offensive line at Union College, Woods earned his Bachelor of Science degree in psychology in 2004. He resides in Ronkonkoma, with his wife and son.
