About the Game
One home winning streak is over, but the Seawolves are determined to start a new one on Saturday when they face Canisius for the first time ever. After losing a 64-62 game against Sacred Heart last weekend, Stony Brook saw its 15-game Pritchard Gymnasium winning streak come to an end. However, the Seawolves are still 39-16 at Pritchard since 2008 and are eager to start a new streak. The team is also looking to extend its winning streak over MAAC teams to four games. This is a unique weekend for Stony Brook. It is playing games on back-to-back days, facing UConn on Sunday. Also, this game vs. Canisius is part of Seawolves Super Saturday, which includes the football team’s NCAA Div. I Championship first-round game vs. Villanova at LaValle Stadium.

Scouting Canisius
The Golden Griffins are off to a strong 3-0 start this season with wins over Boston University, St. Bonaventure and Buffalo. Today is their first road game of the season, and they will play their next five away from home. Canisius is in its first season under head coach Jim Baron, who has won nearly 400 games as head coach at St. Francis (PA), St. Bonaventure and Rhode Island. Baron has four starters from last season’s team at his disposal, including outstanding senior guard and captain Harold Washington, who averaged 17 points a game last season and is averaging 19 points so far this season.

Last Time Out
The Seawolves had a 14-point lead in the second half of their game against Sacred Heart, but the Pioneers ended the game on a 24-8 run to steal a 64-62 win from Stony Brook. Shane Gibson was responsible for the comeback with 14 second-half points after playing just one minute in the first half. The Seawolves were led by Marcus Rouse, who had 16 points off the bench. Tommy Brenton added 11 rebounds and eight assists.
