About the Game: The Seawolves begin their quest for an America East championship and need just three wins to do it, beginning with a quarterfinal game against Albany. This is a rematch of last season’s noon quarterfinal that saw the Seawolves win 68-59. The winner of this game will play the winner of the following quarterfinal between No. 1 Vermont and either No. 8 UMBC or No. 9 Binghamton. Albany is Stony Brook’s most visible rival; this is the 54th all-time meeting between the two teams, and Albany leads the series 34-19.

Scouting Albany: The Great Danes are riding a four-game winning streak into this tournament and finished with a 9-7 record for a third-place tie, their best conference finish since tying for second place in 2007-08. Albany is looking for its third America East championship after winning back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007. The Great Danes are led by the one-two punch of Tim Ambrose and Logan Aronhalt. Ambrose is averaging 16.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists while shooting 45.1 percent from the field. His only downfall is that he leads the team in turnovers with 92. Aronhalt averages 14.7 points and 4.8 rebounds and is the primary 3-point shooter on the team.

Last Time Out: Stony Brook put together a tremendous effort against Binghamton, shooting a season-high 52.2 percent and holding the Bearcats to just 13 field goals in a 67-42 rout at sold-out Pritchard Gym. Dallis Joyner led the Seawolves with 16 points and eight rebounds. Bryan Dougher added 15 points.

Last Time vs. Albany: On Feb. 14, the Seawolves  struggled to shoot the ball with any consistency in a 58-43 loss to the Great Danes in Albany. Leonard Hayes scored 18 points and was 7-for-16 from the field, but the rest of the team was only 10-for-39 for 25 points. Tim Ambrose led Albany with 22 points.
