Noteworthy: Mike missed three weeks of preseason after breaking his right thumb in an intrasquad scrimmage. He missed the first two games of the year as well . . . Mike suffered from dehydration and was hospitalized on January 10. A series of tests revealed he was just suffering from dehydration and he was released in a few hours. He sat out the Medgar Evers game the following day.

High School: Averaged 19.5 points, 11 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game, earning him First-Team All- Ocean County, Second-Team All Shore and McDonalds' All-America nominee honors . . . he was one of 13 New Jersey seniors who were recognized by Street & Smith Magazine, a nationally-known sports-media publishing group, when he was named to the 1999-2000 Street & Smith High School Honorable Mention All-America team last fall . . . set the all-time Toms Rivers East High School record by scoring 45 points against Lakewood in January of 1999 . . . garnered First-Team All-County honors as a junior after averaging 19.1 points and 10 rebounds per game and shooting 60 percent from the floor . . . also earned letters in soccer and track and field . . . picked for the Adidas Elite Soccer Program (Top 150 players in the country) . . . honor student earned 3.8 G.P.A. and was in Top 10 percent of his class.
