Coach's Corner #2 - A Letter From The Desk Of Coach Senk
Nov. 19, 2007
Stony Brook, N.Y. - Welcome to the Thanksgiving edition of my monthly newsletter which, of course, is a potpourri of thanks to all of those who make Stony Brook a special place to be! First, I would like to express my appreciation to all of the alums, parents, and friends of the program who came back to celebrate our Wolfstock homecoming. We all enjoyed an exciting overtime win over Maine in front of a record-setting, boisterous Sea of Red that turned out to be the largest homecoming crowd ever. Before and after the game, Wolfstock Village offered Seawolves fans of all ages a fun-filled day of music, food, drinks, and games topped off by a gorgeous fireworks show. If you were unable to attend this year or have not been back to campus in a while, you are certainly missing out. Homecoming, as are most of our home athletic events, is a BIG TIME experience! Attending any athletic event on campus is an exceptional experience and one that makes you feel proud to be a member of the Seawolves family. With that in mind, start making plans now to come out to our basketball games this winter and as many games as possible this spring. And, of course, it is never too early to start planning for Wolfstock 2008 which will take place on October 18 next year. I would also like to thank my players who have just concluded a successful fall practice schedule. We are all extremely optimistic about our upcoming season based on the talent, desire, commitment and focus this team has displayed so far. Following the conclusion of the fall practice slate, we have now stepped up our strength and conditioning efforts to help us reach our full athletic potential. We are also applying equal effort into the final weeks of classes to ensure that our academic and athletic future looks extremely bright. And another giant thank you to all who gave so generously to our first big fundraiser of the year - our Annual Bat Blast. This event is so much fun for our players and to have the support of so many people is tremendous. If you were unable to give or were not aware of this event please consider helping the program by making a tax deductable donation through the P.A.W.S (Providing Athletes With Support) campaign.
There are so many ways we want to help our players enjoy the finest student-athlete experience and reach their greatest potential. Simply put, YOU make it all possible. To give back through PAWS please click on the link in this newsletter or contact me directly at 631-632-6312 or by email at matthew.senk@stonybrook.edu. Thank you in advance for you support and generosity. Finally, I give thanks for the blessings that my family and the Seawolves family have given me and continue to give me personally and professionally. I hope this Thanksgiving offers the same blessings to you and yours. Happy Thanksgiving and GO SEAWOLVES! Matt Senk |
