Stony Brook, N.Y. - After leading the Stony Brook University baseball team to its second America East title in three seasons, several Seawolves have scattered across the country to various summer leagues to hone their skills for the 2011 season as SBU looks to repeat. Below are updates on how their summer seasons are going.

Nick Tropeano- Cotuit Kettleers (Cape Cod League)
Tropeano has made seven starts for the Kettleers, has an ERA of 3.77 and leads the league with 39 strikeouts. Tropeano has gone 7.2 innings or more in four of his seven starts. He earned the win in the Kettleers 2-1 win over the Bourne Braves on Wednesday, allowing one run in 7.2 innings.

Tanner Nivins- Thunder Bay Border Cats (Northwood League)
Nivins was selected to the 2010 NWL All-Star Game and is hitting .287 with 17 RBI and 17 runs scored in 32 games. He also was selected to participate in the All-Star game's home-run derby.

Travis Jankowski- Marion Bobcats (Kitty League)
Jankowski is hitting a league-leading .504 in 35 games played. He also is first in the league in stolen bases (42) and has 13 doubles, 37 runs scored, 27 RBI as well as an on-base percentage of .618. He was selected to play in the Kitty League All-Star team.

Stephen Marino- Morehead City Marlins (Coastal Plains League)
Marino is hitting .321 with 17 runs scored in 24 games for the Marlins, who are in first-place in the South Division. He was selected to play in the Coastal Plains League All-Star game and had a hit in two at-bats.

Pat Cantwell- New Bedford Bay Sox (New England Collegiate Baseball League)
Cantwell tied for the first in the catcher skills competition at the 2010 NECBL All-Star game with a pop time of 1.89 seconds.

 

 

William Carmona- Vermont Mountaineers (New England Collegiate Baseball League)
Carmona has driven in 21 runs in 24 games, which is sixth in the league, in addition to ranking second with four home runs. He was also named the league's Co-Player of the Week on July 17 after hitting .318 with seven hits including two doubles and two home runs including a grand slam. He also was selected to participate in the Home Run Derby at the 2010 NECBL All-Star game.

Maxx Tissenbaum- Lowell All-Americans (New England Collegiate Baseball League)
Tissenbaum has played in 21 games for the All-Americans, hitting .269 with eight runs scored in 21 games.

Chad Marshall- Team Canada (World University Games)
Marshall is currently over in Japan, playing for Team Canada at the World University Games.
