Setting the Scene: The Stony Brook University baseball team faces elimination Sunday as it takes on the Florida State Seminoles in the College World Series. Tomorrow's game will be televised live on ESPN2, with Karl Ravech, Kyle Petersen and Jenn Brown on the call. The Seawolves are coming off a 9-1 loss to UCLA in the College World Series opening game. The winner of this game will face the loser of Sunday's UCLA-Arizona game on Tuesday at 8 p.m., Eastern. Stony Brook has not lost two straight games since March 25. Scouting the Seminoles: Florida State is making its 21st appearance in the College World Series, 15 under head coach Mike Martin...FSU has never won the CWS, but was runner-up in 1970, 1986 and 1999...the Seminoles are the No. 2 national seed in the tournament and defeated UAB and Samford in the regionals before pounding Stanford in the super regionals to reach Omaha...FSU lost its CWS opener to Arizona in 12 innings, 4-3...outfielder James Ramsey (.382, 13 HR, 57 RBI) is the player to watch. |
