Omaha, Neb. - Junior centerfielder Travis Jankowski has been named a first team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), the organization announced on Wednesday.

Jankowski became the first player in program history to be drafted in the first round of the MLB Draft last week when he was selected 44th overall by the San Diego Padres. Jankowski leads the nation in hits (109), runs (78) and triples (11) and his .422 batting average is fifth in the country.

Ranked No. 7 in the latest NCBWA poll, Jankowski and the Seawolves open the 2012 College World Series on Friday against UCLA at 5 p.m. EST.

The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2 and will also be on ESPN3.
