Stony Brook, N.Y. - Former Stony Brook baseball All-American Nick Tropeano was named South Atlantic Pitcher of the Week for the second time on Monday, the league office announced.

Pitching for the Class A Lexington Legends of the Houston Astros organization, Tropeano struck out eight in 7.0 shutout innings on May 5 against Asheville. Tropeano has a 1.87 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 33.2 innings this season for the Legends.

A two-time All-American and America East Pitcher of the Year at Stony Brook, Tropeano was a fifth round selection of the Astros in the 2011 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

Last season for the Seawolves he was of 25 finalists for the College Baseball Hall of Fame's Pitcher of the Year Award and set America East single season records for wins (12) and strikeouts (119).

The Seawolves have had 34 players sign professional contracts under head coach Matt Senk including 25 since the program jumped to Division I in 2000.
